Irrigation That Works Every Time

Adelaide summers are among the hottest in Australia, and SA Water's watering restrictions mean every watering window counts. A properly designed and installed irrigation system is the difference between a lawn and garden that thrives through the heat and one that struggles or dies back in summer, requiring expensive renovation or re-turfing each autumn.

We design, supply, and install complete irrigation systems for residential properties across Hackham, Morphett Vale, Hallett Cove, Reynella, and the wider Adelaide south. Our systems are designed around the specific conditions of your property — the layout, the soil type, the plant types in different areas, the available water pressure, and your watering schedule restrictions. We use Hunter products across most installations, specifically Hunter MP Rotator heads for lawns and Hunter NODE Bluetooth timers, which allow easy scheduling adjustment from a phone without needing to dig up the controller.

We also repair and upgrade existing systems. An old, poorly adjusted system can be as costly as no system — broken heads spray water in the wrong direction, blocked emitters leave plants dry while the timer runs, and pressure problems cause premature component failure. We diagnose systematically and fix what's actually causing the problem rather than just replacing parts.

Our Irrigation Installation Process

A properly designed system takes planning before installation begins. Here's how we approach every new irrigation install.

1

Site Assessment & Watering Audit

We walk the full property, measure the areas to be irrigated, assess water pressure at the tap, identify any existing pipe or system components, and note sun exposure, plant types, and soil conditions. This information determines the system design — number of zones, head types, pipe sizing, and controller requirements. Getting this right upfront prevents having to revisit the design once installation begins.

2

System Design & Head Placement Plan

We map out the pipe routes, zone breaks, head positions, and controller location. Zones are designed so each zone covers plants with similar water needs — lawn areas run separately from garden beds, shaded areas separately from full-sun areas. This allows each zone to be programmed with the right run time, rather than compromising some areas to avoid overwatering others. We also design with SA Water's watering schedule in mind, ensuring the system can deliver adequate water within the allowed window.

3

Pipe Trench Excavation & Routing

Poly pipe is buried to protect it from UV degradation and mowing damage. We trench at the appropriate depth for each area, route cleanly around garden beds and structures, and minimise surface disruption. Where trenching would disturb established plantings, we can use narrow-profile tools or bore under pathways rather than cutting through them.

4

Head & Emitter Installation

Sprinkler heads, drip emitters, or micro-spray heads are installed at the planned positions. Hunter MP Rotator heads are our preferred choice for lawn zones — they operate at low pressure, apply water slowly enough to avoid run-off on clay soils, and have excellent distribution uniformity. For garden bed zones we use inline drip tubing or micro-sprays depending on plant density and spacing.

5

Controller Wiring & Zone Setup

Solenoid valves are wired to the controller and each zone is tested for activation, coverage, and any adjustments needed. For most residential jobs we install Hunter NODE Bluetooth battery-operated timers — they don't need mains power or hard wiring, allow scheduling adjustment from a phone via the Hunter Home Court app, and can be placed anywhere on the property. For larger systems we use wired multi-zone controllers.

6

Test, Adjust & Program

Every zone is run in full and observed for coverage, pressure, and uniformity. Head arc and radius are adjusted where needed. The controller is programmed with a compliant watering schedule based on SA Water's current restrictions for your property's address. We walk you through the controller so you know how to adjust run times and days when needed, and leave you with written zone information for future reference.

📱

Smart Bluetooth Controllers

Hunter NODE Bluetooth timers allow scheduling from your phone — no mains power needed. Set zones, adjust run times, and check system status without lifting the controller lid.

🌱

Drip Irrigation for Garden Beds

Water-efficient drip lines and micro-spray systems delivering water directly to plant root zones — significantly reducing water use compared to overhead sprinklers.

⬆️

System Upgrades

Replacing outdated heads, adding zones, upgrading to modern water-efficient components, or converting a manual system to automated — improving performance without a full replacement.

🔍

Fault Finding & Repair

Diagnosing and fixing leaks, blocked heads, solenoid faults, controller issues, and pressure problems. We work on all major brands and give you the honest repair vs. replace assessment.

🔄

Seasonal Servicing

Pre-summer checks to ensure your system is ready for Adelaide's heat — cleaning filters, adjusting heads, testing all zones, and updating the watering schedule for the season ahead.

Irrigation System FAQs

Pricing depends on the area to be covered, number of zones, pipe run complexity, soil conditions, and component choice. A small lawn zone with a basic timer is very different in scope from a full property system with multiple zones, drip lines for garden beds, and a smart controller. We provide free on-site assessments with transparent line-item quotes before any work begins so you know exactly what's included.
Yes. Adding a drip irrigation zone to existing garden beds is one of our most common jobs. We connect to your existing controller (or install a new Hunter NODE Bluetooth timer) and run drip lines or micro-sprays through the beds, fitting emitters at each plant. Drip systems use significantly less water than overhead sprinklers and keep foliage dry, which reduces fungal disease pressure on plants.
Yes. We diagnose and repair all types of irrigation faults — broken or blocked heads, leaking valves or solenoids, cracked pipes, controller issues, zones not activating, and pressure problems. We work on all major brands. If your system is old enough that repair costs are approaching the cost of an upgrade, we'll be honest about that and give you pricing for both options so you can make an informed decision.
We primarily work with Hunter products — Hunter MP Rotator heads for lawns (highly water-efficient, low precipitation rate, great for Adelaide's clay soils that can't absorb water quickly) and Hunter NODE Bluetooth battery-operated timers for standalone zones. We also use quality poly pipe, solenoid valves, and drip components from trusted suppliers. We recommend products based on what's right for each application.
Yes. We design and program all systems to comply with current SA Water watering restrictions. We set controller schedules within the allowed watering windows for your property's address. We also advise on smart approaches to maximise watering efficiency within the restriction schedule — so your lawn and garden stay healthy without breaching restrictions or wasting water outside your allowed window.
